Red-Rumped Parrot Mutation

Grass Parrot Mutations

These are Redrumps, more of a lesser broadtail than a grass Parrakeet. I don't find these as attractive as the wild type.

What do you mean by lesser broad tail? Platycercini?

How do you tell that they're red-rumps and not Neophema sp. for example? They all have rather similar shapes as far as I can tell and I wouldn't know how to differentiate them without the help of the natural colours.

Definitely agree on them being less attractive than wild type.

Grass Parrot....

Psephotus species have been referred to in the past as 'lesser broad tails', as distinct from the true broad tails (Platycercus). The hen of this pair looks like a Redrumps, the cock I'm pretty sure is an Opaline Redrump.

yes, they are redrumps. The mutations always catch me out as well. They look like they should be Neophema but they are a bit bigger and look bulkier.
