Reich der Mitte aviary - Chinese aviary near entrance and gift shop, 2024-05-21

According to signage this aviary houses: Temmick's tragopan, Mandarin duck, Golden pheasant, Baikal teal, Lady Amherst's pheasant, Black-breasted thrush, Gray-capped emerald dove, Red-whiskered bulbul, Chinese spotted dove, Collared hill partridge, White-crested laughingthrush.

I only saw Mandarin duck, Baikal teal, Lady Amherst's pheasant, Red-whisked bulbul, Chinese spotted dove and White-crested laughingthrush.

The sign now also lists Gracula religiosa, if anyone is interested

Personally I felt this aviary still needs development and maturing, perhaps some shifting in species composition to find birds that will show themselves well at this location.

@KevinB Agreed. I am also fairly sure they have removed the other partridges and pheasant species from the aviary, and only left the lady Amhersts there. Maybe because of pheasant hormones…
