You'll be shocked coming to Europe, that this is the norm and European reptile houses generally provide a lot more room than the US counterparts.
I didn't count the number of enclosures, but there are about 60 species of reptile on show and additionally about 10 amphibians and some invertebrates. All in all the number of enclosures must be around 30-40, as many terraria hold multiple species.
The Reptile House has 46 exibits. Amongst them 6 invertebrates, 12 amphibians, 1 rainforest overlook (caiman and iguana) and 1 multi-exibit walk through (tortoise, iguana and tropical birds)
Thanks for the information...it is much appreciated. That plan for the Reptile House at Antwerp really is brilliant.
I've already toured what is probably the 'best' Reptile House on the planet at Fort Worth Zoo in Texas. It cost almost $20 million to build, has approximately 100 exhibits, 150+ species and is astonishing with many floor-to-ceiling habitats. However, there are several Reptile Houses that I'm eager to tour on my Dutch/Belgian/German zoo tour in the summer of 2019 and Antwerp is very high on that list.
