Are there still plans to eventually move all the reptiles out of the building and turn it into some type of giftshop or information centre?

Where exactly did you hear this plan? Just wondering since the zoo just announced that they are creating an outdoor exhibit for 2 year old Galapagos tortoises on the side of the building. Also they are re-painting the roof, putting in new "Green" windows, and renovating more of the indoor exhibits. So this all might indicate that this will remain a place for reptiles for a very long time.
