The one drawback to this particular exhibit yard (which has ample space and native foliage to boot, providing an amazing context as to a grey wolf's natural habitat) is that visitors are looking *down* at the wolves rather than *out at* the wolves. Northern Trail at Woodland Park along with Brookfield's Wolf Woods are perfect examples of visitors looking out at wolves rather than down at wolves. With that said, I imagine the reason there is a boardwalk/hill is the following; ADA certification and infringement into native habitats for various rare reptiles/amphibians. Oakland did what they could, and for what they could, it still is a fantastic exhibit.
@Wyman I realized once I looked down on this exhibit that I missed the wolves in my last visit because I was looking down the wrong area. The ecological recovery zones and the wolf exhibit look so similar that I thought the wolves were just hiding in the foliage. I do think photography people will enjoy this exhibit since the wolves seem to be always out in the open more than ever and the angle offers some good pictures if one ever had the right camera.
