revolving turtle island

mostly red-eared turtles (Trachemys scripta)

August 2013
yup, I didn't quite get the reason but the island just keeps slowly rotating

they didn't seem to, but they did have some trouble actually getting onto the island from the water because it was moving!

There is a very rare and threatened Pyxidea (Cuora) mouhoti between tchem. What a waste. Surely they don't know that.

Revolving? Really??

Forget about silly immersion masterpieces or the latest progress in giraffe feeding stations...the time is now for zoos to embrace REVOLVING TURTLE ISLANDS! San Diego and Omaha are reportedly keeping close tabs on the progress made with this revolutionary new zoological design.:)

If you removed the rare species, added a pole to secure the island in place, and imagined this enclosure in someone's home or at a private collection, it wouldn't be half bad IMO.
