Leopard is directly behind
I guess Borth doesn't have (or wish to spend) the money, but if that's the leopard cage in the back, wouldn't it make sense to move the rhea to turn their paddock into a (more) spacious outdoor area for the leopard?

Oh yeah, cos thats safe to keep the leopard!

i think jacobea was suggesting that this space could be used to create a larger leopard enclosure-not that they could be kept in the existing one!

I was. At the moment that leopard's just cramped into that cage and IMO, the rhea paddock would be an obvious place into which to extend it and give the cat some more room.

that is true. the two lynx found at borth are the same age as me (18) and should be keeling over soon. im wondering if they will consider the lynx enclosure for the leopard.... the lynx enclosure is a fair sized enclosure for two cats, never mind a lone one.

Unless any of you would like to put your hand in your pockets?

I doubt it! Most on here are to cheap to even be zoochat supporters.

I bet most can afford to go to the cinemas twice a year yet for some reason think that zoochat should be free.

Seems allot of posters on zoochat love to complain yet actually NEVER take it any further than typing a few words.

I am aware of a few on here that do actually do allot more than just criticize and complain so l know it is not everybody but l am thinking it is the majority.

Well this zoo needs help and so do the animals, infact, they are crying out for help. They mop up the homeless animals from the pet trade and also animals that are kicked out from zoos because they are no longer wanted in collections. All people can do is point and critisise. Please help us turn around this zoo. for the sake of the animals and the new conservation programes.

Well, I think you'll find that the criticism is likely to die down if indeed the zoo has new owners and the plans for improvements come to fruition. I imagine people on this site are likely to be more supportive knowing that there is new management.

for the sake of the ... new conservation programes.

Whether animals are better off in substandard accommodation, or being painlessly euthanised, is open to debate. I'd be on the side of euthanasia. But please don't try and convince me that a place like this, holding a few scraggly beasts, is in any way contributing to conservation. It isn't. That's not to say it has no raison d'etre. I'm all in favour of small zoos which do nothing more than display a collection of well kept animals in an attractive fashion. But this looks to be anything other than attractive, and the animals appear to be anything other than well kept. And conservation is the reddest of herrings.
