From everyone I have heard from he would mount but then kind of just stand there. Nothing was done that could possibly lead to a baby. Tom might be the better match but maybe Tony should try. Maybe he knows what needs to be done.
Looks like Tony will be getting a chance to breed with the girls this summer. Keepers are thinking of putting him with the girls after Sabi cycles next week. Hopefully Tom gets the job done.
Tom getting one or both girls pregnant would be good but Tony is far from a bad match as well. The SSP said Tom was the preferred breeder but that Tony could be used at the zoos discretion so he too is a decent match. Tom is from African import parents like Zohari and Sabi. Tony on the other hand is from American born parents so there are more relatives in the US for him. Even brother KC who he lived with in Granby has the go ahead to breed with Toronto's former rhino Shaboola... not that any one expects that will result in anything. The SSP just wants calves from Sabi and Zohari.
