Ring-Necked Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus)

This is a very nice photo! I'm glad you had a good experience with the pheasants. They are not my favorites in the aviary only because they aren't native to Oklahoma - they were introduced from Asia nearly a century ago!

Japanese Pheasant differ from the species in this photo in that they lack the white ring around their necks.

@Summer Tanager at least Ring-necked Pheasants currently live in Oklahoma, unlike some of the species in that aviary now!

@Ituri Well, you're correct, but I like really like Black-necked Swans so I'm willing to turn a blink eye toward their presence! All of the other birds are native to Oklahoma (except for the Cattle Egrets). White Ibis expanded their range into southeastern Oklahoma in the mid 2000s and we now have 200 to 400 here during the summer months (late April through September) and there's a mixed breeding colony of White Ibises, Anhingas, Neotropic Cormorants, Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Little Blue Herons, and Cattle Egrets. The Black-bellied Whistling Ducks expanded their range into the state from Texas in the early 1990s and we now have several hundred of them scattered across the state during the summer and fall, but most of them migrate south in mid-October.

Yeah I’m good with those, it was just the swans I was calling out. There used to be Rosybills and Egyptian Geese in there too
