Ring-tailed coati cage (April 19th, 2015)

This recently constructed cage held quite a large group of ring-tailed coatis (Nasua nasua), maybe a much as ten. The cage itself isn't that small or terrible, but it did seem rather crowded. A coati group that large should probably have a larger enclosure, which I hope they will get in the future (for example, the island currently holding a single old gibbon. Coatis did live on that island for a while). This cage seems to be new, there used to be a small cage with a wooden frame on this location, which held different types of small monkeys and a baby raccoon over the course of 5-6 years.
