ringtail exhibit

How did you get such a great shot of what is a very dark exhibit? Usually the ringtail is curled up inside its box.

The ringtail was active because a keeper had just put out food at closing time.

I got a good photo in the dark because I use a three thousand dollar professional camera. Take that all you cell phone shooters!

Some of you may wonder at the odd design of the enclosure. The signage says ringtails are also known as miner's cats (even though they are not cats) because miners used to keep them as pets to eat mice. So it is supposed to replicate a miner's cabin, I presume in the late 1800's or early 1900's.
