Are Rothschild's giraffes no longer being bred?

They are being hybridized with "reticulated" giraffes, which ticks me off on many levels. The purest individuals of both subspecies in the United States were at the park, but generation one of hybrids is shown in the photo.

On a brighter note, the park has also started breeding Masai giraffes (thankfully pure) at a different section of the park.

Why would they do that? Rothschild's giraffes are so rare.

Because the entire US population is hybridized going back decades.
