In June 2008, a new 15-minute cruise will be introduced which winds through the jungle-lined reservoir surrounding the zoo.

The ride will be a platform for highlighting water conservation. It also serves as a ferry to bring visitors from the entrance to the furthest end of the zoo.

In the next phase, exhibits will be built on either sides of the waterways to create a "River Safari" experience.

Yes it does! That's why only electric boats will be used. There is also a metre-wide storm drain which encircles the entire water-edge border of the zoo and night safari to trap any run-off from the site. All exhibits will have to be built behind the storm drain.

Besides, the water is heavily treated before it is pumped into our taps.

@DavidBrown no crocodiles yet (theoretically they can make their way into the reservoir from the coast using the drainage system) but monitor lizards, long-tailed macaques, king cobra, orlitia turtles, snakehead and recently smooth-coated otters have been seen swimming in the reservoir. Invasive species like red-earred sliders and motoro stingrays are also common.
