River's Edge - Black Rhino/Sacred Ibis Exhibit

Aug. 9th, 2014.
My personal favorite single enclosure in America, slightly biased as it is for my favorite animal. However this black rhino enclosure is one of the most naturalistic in America and effectively designed in my opinion.

This is the most immersive black rhinoceros exhibit in the country IMO. River's Edge only has competition from the Watani Grasslands, African Adventure and Kiliminjaro Safaris for being the best complex in the US for multiple pachyderm species

Why would you do that!? It is much easier and cheaper to clip the wings of the bird ;)

I don't think I've ever seen ibis with clipped wings before.
It also sounds a bit dangerous to me if the ibis can't fly away from the rhinos, even if it's just the possibility of being trampled.

I visit this zoo a lot (family in the area) and the rhino is nearly always at one end of the enclosure while the birds are at the other.
