They blend in well with the background, but extremely popular Polar Bear statues are in this plaza. The building is home to vast underwater viewing areas for Polar Bears, California Sea Lions and Harbour Seals. Utah's Hogle Zoo is probably one of the most improved zoos in America (in recent memory) as 2005's Elephant Encounter was the first major exhibit complex added in close to 25 years. Since then 2006's Asian Highlands opened and it is brilliant, 2012's Rocky Shores is equally fantastic, and 2014 will herald the arrival of an African Savanna with lions, giraffes, ostriches and various antelope. Attendance has skyrocketed and in 2012 the zoo had a record-breaking 1.2 million visitors.
