The S.E.A. Aquarium closed today, marking an end of a chapter in its history. It will undergo about 3 months of final renovation works and reopen as the Singapore Oceanarium. The floor area of the aquarium will be significantly expanded, taking over the space formerly occupied by the short-lived maritime museum. Very little public information about the Singapore Oceanarium is available. We'll just have to wait and see what's in store.
The photo was taken back in December 2012, when the aquarium first opened. This was its original entrance.
@Zooish I hope it gets better and bigger after the renovation. Gosh I'm gonna miss SEA Aquarium, especially during my first and only visit back in 2014.
@Zooish are there plans for this public aquarium to acquire whale sharks? it’s just a shame for me that their large main tank doesn’t housed any whale sharks at all.
@Fargusno the sawfish 'vanished' several years ago. I asked the staff then what happened to it and they responded that it was taken off display for a research/conservation project. I suspect it simply died but the staff didn't want to or weren't allowed to say so.
