One of four species of albatross seen today at the entrance of Otago Harbour along with White-capped, Northern Royal and Southern Royal. This is also the region with a mainland breeding colony of Northern Royal Albatrosses at Taiaroa Head. I was able to see a few Northern Royals incubating in the thick grassy cliff with their white heads popping up out of the vegetation.
