@Coelacanth18 Quite different, actually belonging to different orders! The true Tiger Shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) is the sole extant member of its family and allied with the reef sharks and hammerheads; it is bigger and much more aggressive with a wide blunt snout and is a rare aquarium inhabitant.
The three sand tigers (Carcharias and Odontaspis) are a small group allied with the threshers, makos, and Great White; they are slow moving and docile and have proved to be decent aquarium inhabitants.
The sand tigers and the Tiger are often thought to be related due to naming, but are only distantly related and are very different in habits, appearance, and provenance in aquaria. A case where full name does make a difference!
