Savanna - Flamingo aviary

GaiaZOO's flamingo aviary holds the biggest captive flamingo colony in Europe, having roughly 460 animals.

When I first saw pictures of this aviary I thought it looked pretty ugly, but now that the vegetation has grown it's looking pretty good, I was afraid that the sheer number of flamingoes wouldn't allow the growth of vegetation.

During my previous visit 2 years ago the aviary was essentially a mud hole, which was pretty disappointing to me too. I'm very glad the foliage grew in properly after all this time!
