A child behind me kept referring to them as "flamingos". :P
Nice photos Mr.W this place looks completetly fifferent from my regular visits in the early 1990's, do they still have the water fall that you can stand inside as the water flows over a plastic ledge above you?

Thank you, Dean. Yeah, the big waterfall in the Australasia house is still there, but on both my visits over the last two years the waterfall has been "switched off" and cordoned off.

On this visit I noticed that all bodies of water in the house had been drained. Maybe they're planning on removing them all and rearranging them as part of the planned refurbishments?

thanks for the new photos, MR.W. they bring back memories, I wonder if the pools are drained for health and safety reasons, it used to get warm and humid in there as I recall and with councils being alert to legionars disease may be they are playng safe.

Pity, I liked the original set up, in those days it hadn't the range it has now and was free to enter I suppose they charge now to. Is the big green house/ conservatory still there or has it been absorbed into the "Zoo"?

You're welcome, dean. :)

You make a good point about health and safety and legionnaires disease. I think you may have cracked it!

There is an entry fee in place today, yes, but it's only £3.50 per adult, which I think is quite reasonable.

I don't recall seeing any other glass houses besides the ones that make up Tropical World, so you might be right about it being absorbed at one point.
