It's also the only British Isles-themed exhibit for wild species I've ever come across outside the UK, being named after and based upon Bass Rock. Otherwise it's all Highland cattle and Shetland ponies!
And, of course, the first exhibit of the wonderful Oceanium.
Considering the UK's wealth of seabirds - or maybe because of it - I've seen very, very few exhibits of native species. London had a collection of Northern Gannets, Great Cormorants and Herring Gulls in the old Southern Aviary some forty years ago, but I defy anyone to say that it was particularly naturalistic.
