IMO the greatest loss at ZSL was the Sealions. It was a good enclosure and the sight and sound of them was pretty much the essence of the Zoo. Look at the crowds gathered to see them fed. Then ZSL went all conservation-conscious and banished them to Whipsnade- this part of the zoo has been dead ever since but will now be subsumed in the new 'Tiger Territory' I believe.
