This is one of the former bear enclosures (pre 2000) and was repurposed as a small picnic area so that zoo visitors could get a feel for how small the former enclosures were. From the early 1970s through the early 1990s, Sloth Bears, Andean Bears, Sun Bears, and Grizzly Bears rotated through five enclosures similar to this one.
