That house looks quite old, has it been changed in the history of the zoo?
are there any plans to redevelop it?

In the 1960s and 1970s this was the site of the Porcupine exhibit - just a wall around some concrete (there is a photograph of a Porcupine in it on this gallery). There was a step to assist with seeing over the wall. After the demise of the Porcupines the wall was removed and there was a chain link cage here that housed Rabbits for a while and, for a short period, a Raccoon (not at the same time as the Rabbits!). After that the small rodent glass-fronted exhibits in the small yard (down a passage just to the right of this photograph) were demolished and similar ones built here. I cannot recall whether these are modified ones or the originals on this site. The bottom part is not used as it is too difficult to clean. I don't think there are any plans to alter them as I have been told that the Degus will not have to be out of them too long during the redevelopment of the small yard into toilets on the other side of the wall.
