Thought this development was too interesting to not take note of. It gives the giraffes and their neighbours another shelter from the elements besides their houses.
Regarding the welfare of the animals I appreciate this shelter, no question.
However: It is so (functional) ugly that I allow myself to ask if there were no other solutions like "tree islands" with living trees (yes, need time to grow, I know) or fake baobabs with nets (expensive, I know) or ANY other MORE NATURAL LOOKING solution.
I mean, they made so much efforts to hide the building behind trees and now we have this...
