@red river hog Really? I went by this - hendersoni is the only subspecies without a white belly. Although I'm seeing conflicting info now. Do you know the location this pair came from, or documents listing their subspecies? Short-billed dowitcher - Wikipedia
@RatioTile These appear to have a white belly to me; if they were hendersoni it would be more of an orange-ish color like in the photo linked below. Also hendersoni has spotted flanks, as opposed to the nominate having barred. https://ebird.org/species/shbdow2
@red river hog Looks like you’re right. From the Wikipedia text I thought “white” would be a lot whiter and “barred” would be longer bars. Overall, I wish this collection would label every bird that has subspecies to subspecies level; I’m sure it can be figured out if I knew where they all came from.
