Site of the New Giraffe House

Bringing Giraffes back so soon, and in this area of the Zoo, is definately one of their most sensible decisions.

Any idea of their intended completion date- in time for next season?

I should say so as all the foundations are in,doesn't take long to put up an agricultural building,which this will be.

The shell of the building is now up, and posts of the paddock in too. It is a long narrow paddock tapering to a point at the far end (like a spear head). The paddock is not huge either. A workman told me it would be finished in about three weeks but I'm a bit dubious about that.

It will be a big improvement but a bit odd to view them behind the Elephants-it will rather detract from that Asian 'themed area' walkway with Giraffe being on the other side.

Why did they decided to update it?

This is not an update its a complete new build on a different part of the zoo,that was previously part of the over flow car park!!

Sorry, 'improvement' does sound like an upgrade. I meant it will be an improvement on not having Giraffes at all- they sent their last ones away a couple of years ago.
