In spite of the weather it looks like they've made good progress. It would have been nicer if they'd brought the front closer to path, but I guess the presumably listed 'medieval' wall in front put a stop to that.
I understand that visitors will be able to walk right up to the viewing windows on the left hand side.
The windows in front (on the right of the above photo) seem a bit pointless, unless of course they put a small path in front of them. However, I think a raised viewing area will also be built on the opposite side of the main path to allow visitors to look through them
@Arizona Docent In my opinion, the extension is superior to the current exhibit but once the extension is connected to the current enclosure, it will make a pretty good exhibit compared to others I have seen in the UK.
This extension will roughly double the size of the existing enclosure.
I also would have liked it to be a little bigger. However, things aren't easy when you've got a 'medieval' wall in front, a steep drop to the rear and a 1937 grade II listed Tecton kiosk to the side.
I believe they had to bring in an archaeologist to do an archaeological survey/dig before they could be granted planning permission!
