Snowflake notice on Gorilla enclosure

I was impressed with the signs in the Zoo . Nearly all in Catalan , Spanish and Englsh . Catalan seems to be the first so he is referred to as Floquet de Neu . A separate building has a very good museum-like Gorilla exhibition in which Snowflake is prominent .

Do you mean he is mounted/stuffed, or just that he features in the exhibition with photos etc?

I saw Snowflake once many years ago when he was still a youngster living with just one companion. He has several (black) descendants living in Britain now, at Bristol/Paignton(grandchildren) and Blackpool(daughter).

Copito de Nieve was not mounted. There was quite a discussion about this when he died in 2003. Dr. Jordi Sabater Pi, spain´s leading primatologist, who recieved copito de nieve as a baby at the ikunde reserve in africa, was in favor of mounting him. Yet, many persons already considered copito as more closer to humans than other animals, and so were opposed. Instead the gorilla exhibition at barcelona has a statue of him. However, his dna was preserved.

My only previous visit to Barcelona Zoo was nearly 40 years ago and I remember a young Snowflake then .

The Gorilla Exhibition features the story of Snowflake as well as a lot of other Gorilla information , including man's relationship with them . Very interesting and well-done .

Was the building previously used as for animal exhibition ? A new Kangaroo paddock has been built onto the side of it .
