With the Chilean flamingo area on the left side and the Humboldt penguin area on the right side of the walkway. This aviary also houses a selection of South American birds that have access to both areas.
That's what I call a walkthrough aviary! Very high, mesh almost invisible, good amount of vegetation, good views for visitors... Do you happen to remember the species they kept?

@David Matos Mendes Humboldt penguins on the "coastal" side of the visitor walkway (to the right in this view), Chilean flamingos on the "grassy" side (to the left). Roaming free through both areas they keep Inca tern, Scarlet ibis, Black-faced ibis, Black-necked swan, Magellanic flightless steamer duck, Black-bellied whistling duck and Black-necked stilt.

They have (obviously wrongly in continental terms) kept their small group of lesser flamingos in this aviary for years, and currently the American flamingo flock from Zoo Antwerpen is also in this aviary because Antwerp only has a small netted area. The American flamingos produced seven chicks this year, while the Chileans have one so far and are still sitting on eggs.

In the past they have also had boat-billed herons in this aviary, and cattle egrets and white-faced whistling ducks were temporarily kept in here while Planckendael's African waterfront aviary was being renovated.
