They were sort of clucking at each other for a few minutes, then both started to advance. We thought there would be some displaying but they both continued and just passed each other and went about their business.

Looks like a stand off. Good thing they didn't get into a scrap. I have a feeling the goose would win. Heck that's probably why there wasn't a confrontation... past experience told the hornbill leave the goose alone.
