Allegedly one of the more difficult (sub)species of bichir to acquire in the trade, I have had my sights on this animal from the first time I saw Japanese keepers posting about their "XXL Senegals."
Indeed, this subspecies is capable of reaching sizes of up to 60 cm, and they have a lot of heft to them as well. The animal in my possession is just shy of 30 cm, so I am looking forward to see just how big I can get it to be.
