Southern White Rhinoceros (Moesha)

Staff are hoping Moesha will conceive her third calf in the near future as she has been seen mating with Kruger.

Moesha was born in South Africa in 1994 and arrived at Hamilton Zoo in 1999. She has given birth to two calves to date:

0.1 Jamila (born 06/03/2012) exported 2018

@Zoofan15 Moesha hasn't bred very well in the past compared to the other females.

@Tafin She never bred with the first bull, Zambezi and had actually stopped cycling. He was a small bull, so it’s possible she never regarded him as a suitable sire for her offspring. She resumed cycling when Kruger arrived, but seems to be having a gap now as she hasn’t bred in eight years. Moesha will become a grandmother this year when her daughter, Jamila, gives birth at Auckland Zoo.
