Thanks @snowleopard! It is indeed an impressive institution. Unfortunately it is not even halfway complete. This zoo was built (and is being built) to replace the old Zoologico de Pereira/Matecaña (some photos can be found here: Zoológico de Pereira - ZooChat )
When finished it is supposed to be divided into 5 areas, of which only the Andean one and about 70% of the African one have been built. Because it is a public zoo, there have been several issues (lack of political will, corruption scandals, need for resources elsewhere...) which have halted the zoo's progress and it may take many more years before it is finally completed. Because of this some of the animals are held in temporary exhibits which are definitely not as appealing as the ones for which I have already uploaded the pictures. I'll keep on uploading images of this place though.
