This is a gem of a sadly very rare turtle species (Heosemys spinosa) from S.E. Asia and part of the TSA alliance breeding consortium worldwide.

Sadly, also till now fairly infrequently bred as their husbandry and management is rather complex.

It is indeed a gem. Wingham's small reptile house is currently home to a number of really interesting species, including Cape coral snake (Aspidelaps lubricus), bumblebee toads, Cook's tree boa, Mexican mocassin (Agkistrodon taylori) and an assortment of geckos.
