Changes to the waterfall (outdoor) enclosure of Spirit of the Jaguar. Felled trees have been added, a large area of bamboo removed allowing a view through to the callitrichid facilities, and a den constructed, which blocks one of the best views of the enclosure from a photographic standpoint.

On the other hand, there will be evergreens on the back of the mound, which may eventually conceal the top of the fence. I think I can say that Tim told us that this redesign is to encourage the jags to show themselves rather more.

A den where the cats are visible is certainly a sensible addition, display-wise.

It'll be interesting to see how the cats react, but typically in other collections they just sit in the den and display very little.

When the evergreens on the top of the mound were first planted last year, it seemed to discourage the jaguars from sitting up there.

This enclosure looks very different to when it was when it first opened. I can recall 'Salvador' the old male being in this exhibit for sometime.

But they will at least be in a den you can see into rather than completely invisible, as they often are now.

This is true, but I'd suspect the door to the inner dens will remain open so it'll still be possible for the cats to disappear and there are now more hidden areas at the back of the exhibit too.
