Stanley

A separate private yard that holds "Stanley", a giraffe that has appeared in films and TV. He was most recently seen in the feature film "Water For Elephants". This is about as good a view of him as you'll see from the Wildlife Learning Center. He shares his yard with several zebras.

The Wildlife Learning Center is located in the Northern Los Angeles area know as Sylmar. I first learned of it about 3 years ago from a local news broadcast. Another small facility; probably less than 2 acres, not far from my home in Santa Clarita. I visited after a doctor's appt., and figured it would be a good spot for me to try walking around again, due to my recent back ailments. A rescue center that serves its purpose, but not much to look at as far as exhibits go. Your basic smaller enclosures. A lot of locals bring their kids here when they don't feel up to driving down to Griffith Park to visit the LA Zoo. I literally walked the entire grounds 2 or 3 times, including its small reptile and amphibian display, within 45 minutes or less.
