Mafuka was a Bonobo and kept in 1916 at Artis. The Zoo-inspector of that time - mr. Portielje - already recognized that Mafuka belonged to another species as the Chimpansee as which it was obtained. It took another 13 years before the Bonobo was officially discribed !
