Wim Mager, 1940-2008

„Wim Mager was the founder of Apenheul. In the 1960s he kept South American primates as pets. This hobby quickly grew into a real passion. Wim Mager developed a completely new concept for a primate park: primates should live in a social groups and in a natural environment, and there should – where possible – be no barriers between primates and visitors. In 1971 Wim Mager opened Apenheul. Until today Apenheul is a leader in the zoo word on primate management and husbandry.”
