Striped hyena

Oct. 15 2018
You lucky bustard!!! :D :D
This is exacty the photo that I wished to have taken when visited Zie-zoo. Because my striped hyena photo (from Berlin TP) is of a sleeping carpet of fur hidden behind grasses and hit by a too strong sunlight.... one of my worst animal photos. Besides that, Zie-zoo hyenas are subsp. dubbah, always more interesting than nominate or unspecified :-)

Something I just picked up on, where has nominate Striped Hyena? In Europe (not counting Russian or Middle Eastern collections) you have non-subspecies, three holders of sultana, and this one holding of dubbah. Nowhere is listed as keeping nominate.
