The Asian Elephant herd at Tierpark Berlin contain a mixture of Sumatran, Indian and hybrid elephants, housed on the side of the Pachyderm House closest to the collection of African hoofstock paddocks.
The two female Sumatran Elephants are readily recognised by two factors; firstly, they are somewhat smaller than the Indian strain, and secondly they have significantly more hairy ears and heads when compared with their cousins.
Have edited my post with the relevant information; one downside of the photo uploader playing up of late is that the information on photographs does not always remain on the final post - hence my manually re-adding the description in edits.
