Piles of vehicle tires in a tiger exhibit? Hmmm...I won't make any comments on that situation. One question that I do have: even with several deaths over the years, do the keepers still go in and handle the tigers?

Tires can make excellent scratching posts or chew toys, as well as being a good place to hide food or leave a scent trail. It doesn't look natural but makes the tigers act natural
This is the classic Aspinall Tiger enclosure and they are brilliant - simple and are pretty natural grass, trees, logs, rocks and they obviousley work just look at the breeding record!
Regarding the keeper issue they are not allowed to go in since the last keeper death the local council decided they couldnt but it doesnt stop handrearing.
Im not too sure but guessing on what ive heard they have 3 Bengal,5 Amur (including cubs) and 2 Sumatran (have they had any cubs?). I may of missed a few older individuals. But im guessing around 10-13 and they have 4 Amur and 2 Bengal at Port Lympne.
They have just started the breeding programme again, so i think we are in line for another tiger boom at Howletts and Port Lympne
