This exhibit (built 1922) was empty on the day I visited. Jaka (who was housed separately from Molek and Berani) had recently passed away; and Molek and Berani were in the new exhibit (built 2006) that is visible in the background (top left). A raceway connecting the two exhibits allowed the tigers to be transferred between the two - which they found greatly stimulating.
I was sad to see this exhibit demolished after 95 years, but acknowledge it was not entirely suitable for big cats. Like all cats, tigers dislike the feeling of being looked down upon - and new tigers to the zoo (Malu and Molek in particular) took months to adjust, initially preferring to come out only at night when the visitors had gone home.
