You've posted some similar blurry night-time animal-moving photos before. I really like them! How do you achieve this image? I'd be grateful for any tips. Thanks, in advance.

I thin the EXIF data can answer that. Panning with the moving animal and a slow shutter speed. In fact, I'm guessing this animal wasn't even running, probably just walking around the exhibit.

The elephant photo has an even longer shutter speed - 1.6secs - and a small aperture to boot.

Hix's answer is 100% correct (even the part about the tiger walking, not running).

First off, a fully automatic setting will not work. You have to manually set a low ISO (like 50 or 100), then set a low shutter speed. I also use a polarizing filter which further reduces the light coming into the lens. (To do this mid day on a sunny day you would need a neutral density filter, which is a colorless filter that just darkens the lens). I often just set a small aperture in Aperture Priority (or Aperture Value - AV on my Canon camera), which combined with a low ISO forces a long shutter speed.

In fact, on my camera (Canon 5Dmk2) I have two of the three custom settings (C1 and C3 on the top dial) preset to these settings so I can turn to them instantly if I am shooting at a more normal setting and I want to switch quickly.
