Synodontis petricola

March 9 2017
One of the brood-parasite Synodontis catfish from Lake Tanganyika. They sometimes spawn as a pair of mouthbrooding cichlids are spawning, so that the parent cichlid picks up some catfish eggs and incubates them with their own brood. The catfish fry hatch before the cichlids and consume the host's eggs in the safety of her (or his) mouth.
