sorry about the poor quality of this photo but this shows the first veiw you get of the penguins before entering the antartic research station. they are on a rocky putcrop which is quite deep which makes me think that it will be a waterfall or something like that later on

its all connected ant the water starts just beyond that small rock but you cnat see it from this side you have to enter the interp area to see it. I would predict though that the water will eventually come down this far.

I went to Taronga in September 2007, several months before GSO opened. I wonder if the animals can only be seen through glass now or if there are 'posts' to watch and take photos from. Taking photos through glass can be tricky and I avoid it if the respective exhibit has such posts. I have amazing photos of Brooke the late Leopard Seal and all the other of Taronga's pinnipeds because I got to photograph them in the old pools and in the show.

They have 2 new leopard seals BTW, Sabien and I forget the other. I believe you can see the animals from 'posts', but I am not sure as we viewed the animals through glass. The only animals you wholly dont so from behind glass (in other words, open) are the pelicans which like to nip the hands of little children that put their hands in full range of them! :D
