(2023) I noticed a frogmouth killing one of the budgies they share the aviary with. I have not seen the frogmouths in that aviary since then, but I believe they're are still in there. Though, I'm curious how often this happens?
As much as I love Tawny Frogmouths, I don't trust them around small birds. I think they could easily ambush unsuspecting small birds just like they might ambush mice and lizards in the wild. I don't know how often that happens in this aviary - it probably helps that budgerigars are likely to roost in boxes/houses at night and avoid nocturnal depredation by the frogmouths.
