how many zoos have you visited recently? You seem to be getting all over the North Island!

Well this year I've made it to Hamilton Zoo, Wellington Zoo (twice), Karori, National trout Centre, Brooklands Zoo, Wanganui Aviaries, Esplanade Aviaries, Otorohanga Kiwi House and Bird Park, and Auckland Zoo, so quite a few, yes:D

I went home for Easter (Warkworth - north of Auckland), via Otorohanga, visited Auckland Zoo on Sunday, and was hoping to squeeze Ti Point Reptile Park in on ANZAC Monday, and Franklin Zoo on the way back south on Tuesday, but the weather was atrocious! Unfortunately the journey south went from an 8-hour trip to a 12-hour trip after we got stranded in Taupo with an empty fuel tank and all the petrol stations shut cos of the big power cut :(, but we made it back to Palmy in the end!

I am relocating to Warkworth for the rest of the year in a couple of weeks, so I have been trying to visit all the lower North Island zoos before I leave. I want to visit Nga Manu and Mount Bruce (and the National Aquarium) before I leave, but I don't know if I will have the time/money.

Thanks for the effort on this...

Interesting stuff...

How accurate is this map of Te Wao Nui? I've been enormously impressed by this expensive development and from photos and reviews it seems absolutely superb.

Its pretty accurate, there are a couple of minor errors there though. Here is the Te Wao Nui portion of the zoo map (which you should be getting pretty soon :D), which is a bit more accurate.

Note that the tuatara are not in the Islands aviary, and that there are Otago skinks on the walkway between the two High Country aviaries. Only highlighted species are shown.
