It seems from what I can gather that Tembo Trail only has about an acre of space for the elephants, which means it is on the smaller scale of things in terms of elephant exhibits. I'm surprised that a modern zoo such as Toledo would construct a new habitat that is so much smaller than similar additions at other zoos, but at least there are plenty of enrichment items available to the animals.

While we agree that the yards are a bit on the small side the barn is huge.We don't have exact numbers in terms of size buts its certainly a massive improvement over the old facility. There is no doubt too that Toldeo has opted to focus on enrichment as there are opportunities galore both indoor and out.Its too bad that Toledo did not have Clevelands outdoor yards and Cleveland had Toledo's barn either way would make a stellar elephant exhibit .
