Visited Marwell 2day, so good 2 c this exhibit open, was in the planning stages back in the early 80,s when i started there as a keeper.Had a chat with my old head keeper BILL HALL, as he said only open a few months so in time will be an intresting exhibit, just need 2 give it time 2 mature.
Bill, what a legend. Indeed this enclosure still has some more to go: More planting, encompassing of more land to the east and the addition of a larger range and number of animals.
Bill Hall, a legand think that sums Bill up what he does not know about the animals of Marwell is not worth knowing.Now Peter Bircher,the curator has retired Bill along with Geoff Read are the longest members of staff there both coming from London Zoo in the early 2 mid 70,s.I in my time there i learnt a lot from these 2 head keepers and also from Phill Hindmarsh who is now head of the cat section.
